Big Sur Engagement  Photos

I have been so blessed with this Big Sur Anniversary Session and let me tell you it’s beautiful. Erin and Joey spent a week in California for their engagement celebration so naturally I tagged along!

One thing I love about Big Sur is the beautiful evening light and colorful fauna. This was such a treat to photograph one of my favorite couple’s anniversary session in Big Sur.

I feel so blessed to be able to cover this Big Sur engagement session with this fun-loving couple! Erin and Joey planned to spend a week in California for their engagement, and I couldn’t think of a better place for doing a photoshoot. Big Sur offers a breathtaking landscape that stretches from Carmel to San Simeon on California’s central coastline. The waters of the pacific ocean towards the west, and the mountain peaks of Saint Lucia to the east make for the gorgeous backdrops. 

Big Sur feels like a perfect destination for a romantic getaway; plus, it is just hours from Southern California. One thing I truly loved about this Big Sur engagement session with Erin and Joey was the beautiful evening light and the colorful fauna. The forests of Big Sur make for a beautiful backdrop for the start of our session, and by the end of it, we were frolicking in the ocean! 

Erin and Joey were very comfortable in front of the camera, making for some truly outstanding Big Sur engagement photos. It was important to them to capture their love and personalities along with the beautiful landscape, and the result was phenomenal. My favorite photos from the day were the ones at the very end when we hiked down to the beach. I especially like those where the couple stands across the huge rock on the beach, beautifully holding their hands together. They looked so much in love, splashing in the water and just being themselves!

Erin has a sweet and kind personality, while Joey is head over heels in love with her. Even in those moments when we were just walking around, their company was so lively and joyful. I loved how happy and carefree the Big Sur engagement photos turned out, because that’s exactly how this couple truly felt.

Big Sur is a great destination spot that makes you feel grateful for the vast beauty of its natural surroundings. The stunning redwood forests and cliffside ocean views make it one of the best places for your engagement session. However, due to its magnificence, it can sometimes get pretty busy. I typically recommend my clients plant their shooting on a weekday, when there aren’t as many people. If weekends are your only option, then doing a sunrise session would be the best. 

Big Sur is all about open spaces of fresh sea and forest air. I love these photos; they speak volumes of deep love and nature. The best part about Big Sur is that you can even host your dream day here, as many wonderful California coast wedding venues have so much to offer.
