Tips for local-centric wedding

Trends come and go. Especially when it comes to weddings. Every year a new color or must-have dress style floods our Instagram. While I love seeing new trends I want to share with you some lasting ideas. I want to celebrate local floral, fare and talents! So I created some tips for a local centric wedding.

Buy Local and In Season Flowers

Idaho is spoiled with some amazingly talented local flower farmers! Most within a 45 minute drive from Boise, so you can even go pick them yourself.
Peacefully Belly Farms offers seasonal floral for all events. Fiddler’s Green Farm grows unique and seriously beautiful flowers for your wedding bouquet. Lastly, South Fork Flowers in McCall grows an absolutely insane amount of stunning pieces! So you can either reach out to these locations or ask your florist to support local and in season flowers.

Eat Locally Grown Food

This one for me, is just as important as supporting locally grown flowers!! Where we put our money is such a motivation for change. When we support local organic veggie farmers we personally see their families grow from the direct support. My personal favorite is Fiddler’s Green Farm with such a passion for delivering the best organic produce around! Purple Sage Farms also provides unique greens and such a passion for helping Idaho. Supporting locally raised meats is also such an important economic growth factor to Idaho. So when choosing a catering company I urge you to seek out places that use locally grown foods. Places that want to celebrate how diverse and special Idaho alongside its people are. A wonderful place to start is at the Saturday Famers Market where you can meet the hardworking people face to face.

An easy follow up to eat local foods is to enjoy locally crafted libations! Boise is blessed to have a plethora of options when it comes to local beer, wine and even ciders!

Buy A Locally Made Wedding Dress

Daci Gowns creates locally made wedding dresses for all styles! Really beautiful and unique gowns. She caters to all sizes and can even create a one-of-a kind dress for you!

Boise is so very lucky to have an incredible pool of small business owners. Most of whom are super talented and offer such unique products!

Print Your Photographs

Lastly, After the wedding photographs have been delivered support a local photographic print shop. While most mom and pop shops can not compete with the Walmart pricing they do offer superior quality prints and service. I personally love Roots Family History located in west Boise. They can do pretty much any print style and size you can imagine all with the best customer service. Bonus: quick turn around times. 🙂
